April, A Month of Remembering

This month we were called to “Remember” several times. First we were called to “Remember you were once slaves in Egypt” as we celebrated Passover. (3 Apr 2015)

Next we were called to “Remember” the six million Jewish people that were kill during the holocaust on Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah) 16 Apr 2015).

This week we will be called to “Remember” the solders that have died in the service of our country and those lost by terrorist attacks on Yom HaZikaron (22 Apr 2015).

It is only after remembering you were once slave, your ancestors were killed just for being Jewish and that there have been brave men and woman who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom that you can celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut – Israeli Independence Day.

Freedom does not come free or easy and it is good that we remember that it came with a cost.

As we are reminded to “Remember” I ask you too, to “Remember” those we serve here in Sderot as well. There are those who still need our help just to get by; the food we give, the diapers for babies and the incontinence supplies we give to our seniors.

There are the 120 sandwiches we provide each week to one of our local schools and the 80 adults we feed at Enosh each month. Then there are the utility bills we pay ( as funds are available), food for Shabbat we provide, and the building projects we complete… all this does not come free or easy either.

We “remember” that it is through your love and generosity that we are able to do any of these thing for the people of Sderot. Like I said it doesn’t come easy. It is through your work, your sweet, your sacrifices and for that we say “Thank You”

Would you “Remember” Hope For Sderot when it is time for your charitable giving? Please, please remember the 450 families we serve and that they need your help and support.
